The bake (lower) element fractured dramatically, which required a new element. I have just received it. I removed the old one carefully and installed the new one similarly, making sure that the connections were clean and tight. Upon checking the new element for function, I found that neither the new bake element nor the old (and still very functional) broil (upper) element were heating. When I tried broil alone, however, that element heated the way it is supposed to heat. There is no internal fuse of any sort indicated on the electrical schematic or diagram that I downloaded, and the wire ends and connectors are clean and look new. Furthermore–just to be sure–I removed the new bake element and checked it with a volt-ohm meter for continuity. It showed no resistance at all, which means that it has proper integrity and, therefore, should be good. What can be wrong?
When the element blew it probably took out your control board.
I am assuming that the unit stays in pre-heat and never comes ready.
I’m sure you are right. The oven does just what you say: It indicates pre-heat in the bake mode but never heats up. Broil seems to work fine, but not bake.
The wiring schematic and wiring diagram I have both show an "electronic oven control," which I assume is the control board you refer to. Unfortunately, these do not list a part number for that control board, nor is there an exploded view that shows where it is located and provides at least some notion as to how to remove and replace it.
Is the electronic oven control the same thing as the control board? Do you know the part number for it? How is the control board removed and replaced?
Thanks.
Here are your parts

The control board is shown as Clock/Timer Item 20 in Section 1.
You may also need a new overlay Item 20A in section 1, depending if the old one comes off easily. If it is difficult heat it up with a hair dryer to see it that helps.
If you click on the parts picture a new page will open with more info and a Q&A section about that part.
Be sure to unplug the unit when working on it.
Also either mark or make yourself a diagram before disconnecting any wires.
