Evaporator fan loose on motor shaft!

Hi, this weekend my refrigerator staring making a loud noise. A bit later, the food in the freezer started to defrost. To make a long story short, I took the deck out of the freezer and saw that the evaporator motor was spinning okay, but the fan wasn’t. It had gotten loose from the shaft somehow and was just sitting there, not spinning so no air was circulating.

My question is: what do I need to get the fan back on the shaft so it won’t come loose again? I made a temporary fix by using a small hose clamp but I’m afraid that this is too much weight for the motor and it will burn up. Everything is working again but I don’t think the small hose clamp is a permanent fix. What parts do I need? I won’t have to buy new motor fan combo will I?

The model number you gave seems to be wrong. I can’t find any information with it. Some fans do come separate from the motor, so with the correct number we can see about yours.

Your retaining fan compression clip may have just fallen off, look around for it.
If nogo, buy the replacement fan from this site.
Measure the fan blade diameter, the rotation direction, and the shaft hole diameter. For example, a four inch diameter blade with a 1/8 hole rotating counter clockwise is part # FB403. Check the pitch of the blade, if it must turn counterclockwise to move air, then it’s a counterclockwise blade.

As far as I remember, if it has no clip, the blade is a really tight fit; most blades come with a clip included and probably the clip is not available seperately.
