F3 error and fan problem

Have recurring F2 and F3 error. Replaced sensor. Sometimes oven works and sometimes still get F3 error. Any suggestions?
Also fan was not coming on so thought this could be part of problem. Bypassed the "switch limit" and directly connected wires - fan works. When replaced switch limit/connector, fan will not come on when oven gets above required temperature.

The cause of the "F3" error code more likely is a loose connection at the sensor plug on the back of the oven. The best solution is to eliminate the plug and hard wire the sensor using a high temperature porcelain wire nuts.

What is the part number of the fan thermal limit switch you installed?

  • The porcelain high temperature wire nuts AP3440631

the part # for the fan is WB24K5126 (GE Part). If can’t find a fix, we were thinking about connecting the fan to the light switch.

There are two limit switches (thermostats) inside the control compartment (#158 & #159 on the diagram). They both should turn the cooling fan ON. The difference is they have a different temperature range. One of them works in the cooking mode and the second one in the self clean. I’m afraid you replaced the wrong limit switch.

I’m afraid I did not get your idea. How the cooling fan can be operated by the light switch?

My freezer is working, but the refrigerator is not cooling. The freezer had significant ice build up. I force defrosted the freezer following instructions on this site. Obviously that means the heater works. Does this then point to the defroster thermostat as the problem? I hate to cut the wires to the thermostat to test it, if the problem is likely elsewhere.
