When the the freezer gets through its defrost phase and the the coils are free of ice, the freezer warms up to 30’, I have to unplug the refrigerator and plug it back in to get the fan going again to start cooling down the freezer eventually the freezer gets to the proper temperature; but when it goes through the defrost cycle again the same thing happens. I have had problems with the fresh food freezing and high temps in refer part as well. Could it be the defrost thermostat and or temperature sensor ? Thanks Mike
Mike, the key thingt here that is the problem, is not the defrost cycle, but the fan in the freezer. GE is notorious for a bad circuit going to the evaporator fasn motor. The fix is a new Motherboard, located on the back side of the refrigerator, behind a small metal panel. Tom http://www.applianceeducator.com/parts.htm

I appreciate the help, I have also had the water stop working in the door so your advice is very much appreciated and will be ordering a new motherboard. Is the motherboard pretty straight forward to install…
Thank you, Mike
