fridge and freezer not cooling. The frezer fan is running. the blower in bottom of the fridge that blows air towards the compressor is running. the compressor feels hot. i thought i would do the compressor check but i can find not way to open the black housing on the side of the compressor that i assume has the start relay. the compressor is a Embraco EGS 90HLP.

Locate the slot on the top of the cover, insert the flat screw driver and push down slightly.

thank so much. now does anyone know a possible solution to the following symptons? fridge nor freezer cooling. fans are running. compressor is hot. if i unplug and let it sit for a while it will start cooling and in fact froze water in the freezer. then it did the same thing again. stops cooling compressor gets hot.

Replace the start devise first. If that wont help then the compressor is bad.
