Hi, The ice maker stopped working - I think because it does not get water. I ordered and installed a new ice maker and then today, the water valve. The problem remains.
The switch in the icemaker sends electricity to the water valve (appx. 6 seconds) during the cycle.
I have tried several tests - swapped the power-in to the water valve (water and icemaker). I can send water to the ice maker using the water switch at the door and can even send water to the door using the ice maker (running the cycle). I also swapped the water lines out - no lines are clogged.
I have no idea what to try next - suggestions please!
In a new test I bypassed the water-on switch in the ice maker. The water runs fine (into a catch bin). Then I run the ice maker cycle and only a spirt of water comes out. Bypassing the water-on swith at this point - no water comes out.
I have been looking at water valve (two). Now I find the ice maker sends slightly less elec to water valve (one) than the water at the door. (55.8v from the IM and 66.3 from the door.) I can have the IM switch bypassed - elec but no water. Then turn on/off the water at the door. The extra elec engages water to the IM.
Do you think this indicates a bad icemaker / replacement icemaker? Also, there are diodes between the IM and water valves - could one of these be bad? Again, thanks for any suggestions.
