Your description leads me to believe , you have a failed gas valve solenoid(coil) on you gas valve.

Are you sure the gas has not been turned off to the the dryer?

Please varify your description: igniter glows red and goes out in a few seconds but no gas is released.

If this is all correct, I suggest you start at replacing the coil kit on the gas valve.
Pleas see attached part number and picture.

Good luck,

You’re welcome,
happy laundering.

I had the same problem. I checked my coils for continuity and got nothing. I ordered the coils and I’m not getting continuity on the new ones right out of the box. Shouldn’t I be getting continuity on these new ones?

Thanks

Yes you should be able to read resistance across the coils.
Is your meter set to the correct ohms resistance range ?

The 2 terminal coil should read apprximately 1000 ohms.

the 3 terminal coil should read approximately 500 ohms across the 2 outside terminals, an 1300 ohms across the middle terminal and the pin to left side (term. #1)of the dual coil solenoid terminals.

It was an audible meter. Touching the leads together produced a loud beep but touching the coil terminals produced nothing. I should return these?
Thanks

Do you know the RX scale of the meter ?
I prefer an anolog meter or adjustable digital meter, not one that beeps only or an auto ranger meter.

A bad part out of the box is a possibility. You may want to return them and try again, but if you get the same resistance, try another meter on the correct settings.
