GE Oven Will Not Turn On

Oven will not turn on with either bake or convection settings. Ignitor is on as I can see red glow from under oven burner. Temperature readout always indicates 100°. Cook top burners work fine. If I turn on any one of the cook top burners while trying to turn on the oven, the oven will ignite and continue to work even if the cook top burners are turned off. This problem just started a few weeks ago. I checked that the lever on the pressure regulator was in the down position. Unfortunately I reset this lever and the plastic lever came off. Tried to reinstall it and the brass pin that moves broke at the spot were this shut off lever attaches. I will order a new pressure regulator, but I think there is still the orginal problem that is the gas does not seem to flow to the oven burner unless a cook top burner is on first. Once statred the gas will continue to flow even after the cook top burner has been turned off.
Any suggestions?
Can you verify that the pressure regulator is part number WB19T10073 which seems to be the replacement part number for WB19T10033?

Thanks

Thanks Tom for the information. I did so more troubleshooting and my guess is your right about the ignitor. I measured the current when the ignitor was on and only read 2.73 amps. I measured the current on the ignitor for the broiler and it measured 3.5 amps. I believe 3.0 amps is the minimum. I connected a hose up to the output of the pressure regulator line that goes to the oven box (input side of the control vave) and was not able to get any air to blow through the control valve with the oven ignitor on. I then jumped in the broiler ignitor to where the oven ignitor connects to on the control valve and was able to get air to pass through the control valve when the broiler ignitor was turned on.

I think that when one of the cook top burners turned on it lowered the pressure just enough to allow the 2.73 amps to turn on the control valve. I measured the resistance of the oven ignitor and it measured 191 ohms.

Replacement parts are on order and I will know if this fixed the problem in a couple of days. Thanks again

Glad to help. Good Job!!! Tom http://www.applianceeducator.com

I think I’m having the same problem that you experienced. My range works, the broiler works however the ignitor never "glows". This just happened last night and I briefly looked at it.

replace the ignitor. tom.

Thanks Tom, that’s what I was thinking but I wanted to make sure before I start ripping the oven apart.

Jeff

Let me know how it goes. Tom http://www.applianceeducator.com

This just happened last night:
Broiler fires up ok
bottom burner does not. Seems like the ignitor as the previous poster.

Problem #2: The gas pressure does not appear enough to fire all the burners. When the oven is on, the top eyes only flame-up 1/2 of the circle of flame, causing the top ignitors to fire continuously. The main front burners no longer light at all (but they do make a valiant attempt, "click, click, click, click"), only the rears work. Are these problems related or is there an additional part (or parts) for the top of the oven to work correctly?
Also, before they stoped working, the front top burners definitely had a lower volume of flame than the rears. I wish I could afford a new stove…

Thanks in advance for your help!
