GE Profile Very Loud Spin (Rinse) Cycle

Hello All,

I have a 9 year old GE Profile washer that recently began making a very loud roaring noise during the rinse spin cycle. I have already replaced the belt, water pump, and clutch. What’s my next step? Perhaps the transmission assembly?

Thanks,

Gerry

Sounds like you are saying that there is no noise in the wash/spin cycle, which is odd. You can try replacing the transmission, which is the likely problem, but you may want to consider replacing the washer, as prices are very low at this time, at least where I live.

If the tub seal leaks water just a little bit the washer will start to make a roaring noise during spin but no noise during wash. The repair is to replace the transmission and the tub seal (tub seal comes with the transmission). Watch it during wash and if even one drop of water comes from where the transmission meets the tub this is the problem. This page will help with replacing the transmission http://appliance-repair-it.com/GE-washer-disassembly.html

 I have a GE Profile about 6 years old and it jumps all over the place on sping cycle only. It is perfect in everything else. Any suggestions?

Take the front panel off and check the straps connecting the tub to the cabinet and the struts holding the tub. It’s probably a problem with the struts.

Thank you I will do that and let everyone know if it works.

I took the front off and watched it run a complete cycle. It hangs on the rods and that is all that is holding the tub. It did not make a loud noise banging like it was when the front was on it. Nothing looked like it was out of order. The spin was a little wobbley on the last fast spin.

Okay, try it with the front panel back on. Maybe something was hung up and it became un-hung up when you took the front off.
