GE washer transmission

Just replaced the transmission in my 5 yr. old GE washer due to oil leaking into the tub & getting on clothing. However, now it leaks around the transmission seal. We used a genuine new GE transmission bought from GE direct.
How do we fix this? It leaks water when the washer is filling.

when replacing the transmission it is usualy a good idea to replace the tub seal as well. the tub seal is part # http://www.appliancepartspros.com/part_details.aspx?part_id=3156169
as you had oil leaking through the seal it is very likely damaged

We did replace the tub seal - a new one came with the new transmission from GE. The washer tub fills with about 2" of water & then it starts leaking from the tub seal. I drain it right away since our washer is on the 2nd floor? Should the water be leaking in the big outer tub?

check to see if the seal is still seated and not damaged. as long as you are in there inspect the outter tub around the seal seat for cracks. the last point to check is the seal to shaft clearencs, is it too loose? if so you may need a new seal
