My workhorse of a washer has stopped spinning. It fills, agitates, and drains swimmingly, but after taking the front panel off, makes a 1/2 inch attempt at a spin, but does not complete a rotation or start to spin. If I shake the drum it will make a few rotations, but won’t complete the spin cycle. Water level is fine, timer seems to work, because after what would appear to be a normal spin cycle, the washer shuts off or continues for another rinse (as instructed)
Should I just replace the control panel or is there anything else I’ve missed.
What is the motor pulley doing when in spin mode? Is it rotating ok but belt is not (slipping)? Does large pulley rotate? With washer off, rotate motor pulley in spin direction by hand. Use two hands to keep it going as brake will stop it right away if you don’t keep it moving. Does main pulley and transmission rotate while doing this?

Im not sure if i know which is moving, but when i rotate it by hand, the drum spins.
After screwing around with it, it appears that it will randomly try and spin and somewhat succeed for a minute or so (sounds slow and unbalanced, but displaces clothes enough to look spun). When it stops spinning, opening and closing the lid a handful of times will launch it into its pathetic short-lived spin. I’ve already ordered a control panel, but just want to know if theres anything else i’m missing.
