trying to put 1995 Whirlpool electric dryer back online. The thermostat on the heating element was burned off at lower terminal and element showed signs of heat stress. I put in a new element and replaced both thermostat and cut off, but I don’t seem to have the wires shown in your video. There is a red one coming from the bottom of harness which I put on the outside terminal of the element, the only thing left is a red wire coming from the top of the harness and the jumper wire. I don’t remember having them (thermal fuse) replaced before but there is a jumper wire there, your video lead me to believe that that is something that would be added during a repair.
I am not sure I understand the problem.
See the attachment for the wiring diagram perhaps it will help.
The video for thermal cut off and high end therm replacement shows adding a jumper with an existing orange wire coupled with one end of the jumper on the lower terminal of the thermostat. I don’t have an orange wire. Can I just hook it up as crudely drawn in this attachment? Is the orange wire for some other feature of the dryer that I don’t have?

Not sure, depends where the red wires are going.
It must be wired as shown in the wiring diagram.

No it is not for another feature.
Perhaps the attached which comes with the replacement kit will help.
I have that info, same as on the video. The only wires I have coming from the harness are the ones I mentioned. a red coming down and a red coming up with terminals, and a jumper wire with female terminals. No orange. They were the 4 wires that were removed when I replaced the thermostat and element. All other wires in the harness are whole. Thanks for any help you can give.
I think, you should change the wiring then.
I need help to find the proper schematic for my whirlpool electric dryer . The model numnber is GEQ8858JQ1. I am putting it back together after my friend took it apart. He is not here now and there is one wire in the harness leading to the heating element area that does not seem to match up with any terminals. It is yellow with a red stripe and comes down from the control panel . Need help ASAP to find out where this goes when I put a new heating element back into the dryer

Thanks for the quick reply. I think this wire is for a moisture sensor that is not in this dryer but they put the wire in at the factory anyhow. The schematic was just what I needed.
According to the parts manual, your dryer has the control board and sensor strips. Sensor strips are #34 on page 5.

Thanks for the info. The connector for the sensor is hidden down in behind the baffle and really hard to see. I may have to take the baffle off and straighten the faston to reconnect the wire. Not very accessible the way it is oriented especially when reassembling the front support.
