is it worth repairing an 18 year old Whirlpool

I have an 18 year old Whirlpool washer that stopped working. It sounded like a bearing was going during the wash cycle before it stopped completeley. It tries to start and then stops, so I am guessing the bearing has frozen the drive. The question is, after 18 years, is it worth fixing this washer? Because of my physical incapacities I cannot fix it myself and so would need to call a repair service. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Could the Whirlpool be sold? What would you replace it with for a couple of senior citizens? We wash one load every two to three weeks, to it does build up, but there are only two of us.
Thanks for any suggestions.
