My personal opinion is no. Its too old to repair. If you had a used motor laying around, sure. But that much money and time on 25 year old washer is too much.

thank your for your opinion. time is not an issue for me. have you heard of transmissions having problems on these machines?

I’ve been working on these for a little over 20 years now and I’ve seen just about every kind of failure that you can imagine and some you can’t.
On a machine this old, 25 to 30 years plus, its not unusual to see the center bearings go bad, the main seals leak, the tub rust out in multiple places. The bolts that hold the tub rust off, the top of the tub rust away, the center post of the tub rust in two, the clutch wear down to the metal, the pulleys wear out, motor bearing failures, transmission chewing up its gears or spewing out its oil, the timer contacts burnt away, wires break in the harness or burn up, pressure switches that won’t shut off or fill, and numerous other things that happen when a machine holds water and is around 30 years old.
I’m just saying that if you have to buy a new motor for one of these, that money might be better spent on a nice used machine or a new one. Its totally up to you what you do with your money.
If you were one of my customers. I would advise you against fixing it. I’m not trying to pick on you, I’m just trying to tell you the truth.
