Kenmore Coldspot freezer not cold

I have a Kenmore Coldspot mod#52562100.Went on a 2 day trip and come home and to my dismay the refrigerator and freezer was warmer inside than the temperature in the house was. The lights inside the fridge and freezer are both on,the fans inside and underneath are all working,I have cleaned the condenser coils, the compressor is running,I put a temp gauge inside to monitor the temp and it reads 64 degrees in the freezer.I have moved about 5 months ago and everything seemed to be working well when we moved the fridge but we have noticed recently(about a week before the fridge stopped)that condensation was forming in the fridge part of the unit and that items like ice cream was soft.Is it possible that during the move that I have acquired a leak to my system? One of the tubes coming from the compressor is scalding hot to the touch and the other tube is mildly warm. The capillary tube seems to be cool to the touch.I hope I have broken this problem down enough to get a answer to this problem i am faced with. Thanks in advance

Sounds like the sealed system is low on Freon. It has to be tested by a certified refrigeration tech.

You are welcome. Have you fixed it?

Gene.

Well Gene I thought it was fixed lol but I was wrong.I had a friend come over and charge the system with his guages and 134a and it started cooling down and the coils started to frost up in the freezer. The temperature got down to only 55 degrees in the freezer and we both decided to wait and see what tomorrow holds for the fridge(it was 12:30 at night).I get up and check the temp in the freezer the next afternoon and it was at 78* and the coils were not frosted up anymore :frowning: So my next question is … Is there a possibility that the defrost timer is stuck in the on position to be constantly in defrost mode??? I have felt around the doors and middle strip between the doors and its not hot whatsoever.Unfortunatly I dont have the manual that came with the fridge as we bought it from a small mom and pops resale shop so I have no idea as to where to find the defrost timer and see if maybe I can "bump" it to advance it.Or is it maybe something along the lines of a …(gasp)… hole in the system???

Does the compressor work?

Gene.

Yes compressor is working, you can feel it running.I have since turned the refridgerator off (since there is no reason to have a refridgerator that dont operate turned on).

any thoughts yet Gene or anybody else as to what may be causing this? I myself can manage without the fridge (eat out  )… but… the wife thats a whole different story lol.

Can you have your friend to come back and check the pressure in the sealed system?

Very likely there is a leak or he did not charge it to a proper level.
