Kitchen-Aid gas oven burner not igniting

Hi everyone,

I am new here on this forum. I have a Kitchen-Aid range that the oven burner is not working properly. The top range burners work properly, although I notice that sometimes when the oven door was opened and closed, a burner that was on very low flame would occasionally blow out. I don’t know if that is related to this problem.

In the past few months there was an intermittant problem. The oven lower burner wouldn’t keep up with the temperature setting. It would be ok for the first 30 minutes or so and the temp would drop. I noticed that the igniter was fully glowing orange but the flame was very small, about 1/8th of an inch from each little burner hole. I thought it should be much larger than that! This problem began to be more frequent to the point of the igniter coming on and the burner would not even light. I didn’t smell any gas odors.

Then I noticed that the igniter would come on, stay on glowing bright orange and the burner would not ignite at all. There wasn’t any gas odors.

Someone here was apparently attempting to use the oven and didn’t notice that the flame didn’t come on while preheating the oven and it looks like the igniter may have burned out. I just tried to start the oven and the igniter doesn’t glow. I do hear a click and the sound of a fan running (not the convection fan). I think it cools the electronic touch panel, not sure though.

I need assistance in the steps in diagnosing and repairing this problem.

Thanks!
