Shortly after starting our dishwasher there was a lot of smoke (i don't think steam) coming out of the door and a strong electrical smell. I opened the door; there was water left standing in the floor of the dishwasher. After it cooled off, I tried to start it again, but it is DEAD! The circuit breakers are fine. I assume this appliance is the age of our house (about 22 years old). Is it worth paying someone to make a house call, or is it time to say goodby to my old friend and shop for a new dishwasher? Can I determine the problem, or do I need a professional?
