The sound gets worse until it sounds like it’s slowing down and then just stops. It seems to be when the tub goes back and forth. It spins just fine all other times.
You mean during agitation, it makes a banging sound? If so, I have heard this sound before. It is internal to the transmission. Not much you can do about it except replace the tranny.

I have a ge washer that will fill with water and when it’s time for the washer to start the agitator won’t spin. I just hear a humming noise…Please help if you can.
[SIZE=3]Pull the agitator off and look at the agitator coupling (the yellow device that the agitator connects to) try to turn it by hand. It shouldn’t turn but if it does its striped out, replace it. Also will it work in the spin cycle?
