OK…since it doesn’t look like anyone is going to reply to my "Strange Ice Maker Problem" I’m hoping to at least get an answer to the following question to preclude burning up new parts:
Does the interface panel/icemaker control board have any direct electrical connections to the refrigerator mainboard? In other words, for instance, if you were to dispense ice does that signal go directly to the components involved in the actual dispensing function or do the signals go to the mainboard which in turns controls the dispensing function…are they completely electrically separated?
The reason I’m asking is because I also suspect I’m having a defrost problem and since I ordered both boards I would like to replace one at a time to verify if that were indeed the root cause of the specific problem I’m trying to solve at the time BUT I might not want to do it that way if there is a chance that a defect in one board or the other would be result in a failure in the new board if replaced one at a time…that’s a little convoluted but hopefully clear enough to understand what/why I am asking.
Many thanks for any feedback.
