The washer fills, drains, agitator moves, motor runs, belt looks fine. There is high pitched noise during spin cycle. The drum moves a little by hand but not much. Do you think it is the thrust bearing that is not allowing the drum to spin?
I think that is a good place to start. Fortunately the parts are not expensive and the repair is not difficult.
Here is the part you need. I think good instructions are included.
That’s the part I was thinking. How does that part work? I am placing the order now for one. How do you tell if the brake is stuck? How do you inspect the clutch?
I think there are good instructions with the part, but this site here says it all. (Make sure you go to the top of the page)

That link did not work. The part just arrived tonight. I will be installing tomarrow after work. What is the purpose of a thrust bearing?
Sorry about the link, sometimes this site will not accept them.
The short answer is that it allows the brake to release. Here is a link to the service manual which will have a better discussion and diagrams.
Well I got the parts out to install and then I found out that I was missing the spacer that backs up to the bearing. That sucked. I called up Appliancepartspros.com and they were helpful and understanding. I think they might be sending me a whole new kit. I will check out that link tonight since my work computer won’t allow it to open for some reason.
