Hi Everyone!
I let my pipes freeze (dont ask!) and while I have repaired the water lines and the baseboard radiators, I found that the washing machine was continuously filling with water. I guessed that the issue would have been frost expansion in the "water/dispenser valve" so I ordered and replaced this.
Now the washer does not fill until a cycle is started. However, at the end of every cycle the washer shuts off and I have to advance the dial a little and push start again.
I am wondering if this could be caused by
a) the frost damaging other components or
b) because when I put the machine back together, I did something wrong?
Does anyone have any thoughts?
Thank you very much for any advice you can give me!

I don’t think you put it back together wrong, although you should check your connections, and it is doubtful the damage from the frozen pipes are an issue.
I would replace the washer control unit and see if that fixes things. If you buy it from this site and that is not the problem you can return it.

Is it your suggestion that that this malfunction, AND the fact that a frozen pipe broke the valve and that I then "opened up" the machine are just coincidental?
Isnt this unlikely? I really appreciate your reply, but would like to understand better.
Thanks,

Yes I think it is coincidence or that you may have inadvertently damaged a connection or something in replacing the valve assembly. So go ahead and replace the board, and as I said, if you buy from this site (no I don’t work for them) and it does not fix things you can return the part.
Unlikely, yes, but it can happen.
