Washer would not spin. Replaced brake assembly and belt. Spins some, but not as good as it used to. Next step, replace springs?
Did you adjust the belts when they were replaced? The belt in the front that runs around the pump, if you pinch it right in the center, does the motor move before the belt touches?
I pulled the motor away from the transmission as far as it would go, then tightened the pump.
If you pinch that belt in the center, does the belt touch before the motor moves?
When pinching the belt that is around the motor and pump pulley in the center, the motor should move when there is about a finger’s width between the belt. If it does not, the belt is too loose and the pump should be loosened and moved to the right to tighten the belt.
I will try that. If this is not a fix, what’s next?
If it still does not spin fast, you may have some drag from the brake. Let me know what happens.
I got the pump set so the motor moves when the pump cable is pinched. The transmission won’t move unless I pull the motor away from the center. I would cycle it on and off and the trans would only move when the motor was pulled from center. The brake and bearing above it are new My install.
I noticed the springs under the motor are both on the same side of the motor shaft. Is that standard install?
The motor should not have that much effect on the transmission turning in spin if the springs are in place. Even if those springs weaken, it should spin the tub. Is the pump all the way to the right, as far as it will go? Did you replace the large belt or the pump belt?
I replaced the large belt. I moved the pump all the way to the right and the trans would still not spin
When the unit is supposed to be spinning, does the transmission turn easily by hand and will it come up to speed if you help it?
It will start spinning when I help it. It seems like there is resistance when you hand spin it.
I would replace the pump belt and see if it makes any difference since you have replaced the brake already. If the center stem kit was binding, it would not spin really much at all, even if once started by hand. The motor pulley may come into the equation, too, but I would start with replacing the pump belt. The belt set available below.
