Maytag Washer Won't Spin

Maytag mav7057 aww washer won’t spin or agitate. Motor runs, pump works, belt and pulleys appear fine, Pulley to drum is free- turns both ways- motor runs in spin cycle, drum won’t turn. Agitator doesn’t work in wash cycle. Could the braking mech. be bound up? is transmission bad?

The brakes would not cause this problem, which seems to be a bad transmission.

Given its costs and the cost of other parts that have to be replaced in a repair I think replacement is the better option.
