Need a Backplate for GE Washing machine

One of the knobs came of the back for controlling the level of the water. High ext,

The other knob came off for turning the water level on high or low.

The apt said that the knobs can not be put back on, but there is nothing wrong with the knobs.

I was told that the knobs can not be put back on the washing machine, even though both knobs can be bought.

I am not sure if the washing machine needs to have the backplate replaced. But the office said I had to buy a back plate for the washer?

I am wondering if the backplate (Backsplash am is this the same thing? )do I need to buy the backplate? or can the Knobs simply be put back on the back? I am not sure if the original back, can be taken off and can be fixed with the same backplate (that is what the apt repair man said(Jeff). Or do I have to buy a whole new part backplate, but the back plate does not have any knobs?

Can any one help. The apt complex said I would have to pay for it, because typically he said that the they do not come off the knobs. But when we got the washer, the knobs were lose already.

The washing machine was supposedly brand new when we got it, so it not a year old. But who knows.

But within two weeks the first knob came off,it was the knob that controls the water level came off .

The knobs right from the start felt lose.

(I am wondering if this happens more often. He said it did not happen to others, but because it came off within the first 2 weeks of being installed, in our home I am not sure. )

So, do I need to buy a whole packplate for the knobs to be put back on the washing machine model wcsr2090g2wwbut? I looked at the GE model and and the parts do not list a backplate. It has instructions for BACKSPLASH ASM
General Electric Part Number: WH42X10650 . But, it is just the back and there are no knobs fixed to the backsplash. So, what is said, and what the order is needed do not look like that is what I need. But, if I do need it then I do.

( Is BACKSPLASH ASM
General Electric Part Number: WH42X10650 the same as a Backplate?)

Any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance .
