Hi, i’ve got a Montgomery Ward refrigerator that is giving me trouble. Things weren’t cold enough, so I googled, did some troubleshooting, and determined it’s SOMETHING wrong with my defroster. Once I thawed the coils out, and plugged the unit back in, everything went back to normal temp. So… I just decided to start replacing parts, the first thing I replaced was the defrost timer, GE WR9X330DS, and the fridge powers up, everything seems fine, the timer spins… but that darn timer is getting hot a PISTOL. It’s not so hot you can’t touch it, but it’s darn close to it. Are these things supposed to get that hot? It seems my old one was getting hot like that, too… as there is a blackened spot on my linoleum under the fridge. For some reason this thing was loose and hanging under there, and touching the floor. So my first question, is it supposed to get that hot? and if not, what should I check to see what it causing it to get too hot?
