Needs help spinning out

This washing machine has been great, and still is, but now when it goes into spin mode it can’t seem to get going on it’s own all the time. If I open the lid and bypass the safety lid switch and help it get going manually, it will drain and spin out just fine. I tipped the washer forward to see if I could see anything obvious, and there was a pile of black dust on the floor in the corcner directly under the motor. All wash cycles work fine and the agitator works fine in all modes. The washer does not drain when it doesn’t spin out, but drains fine if I help it get going and then it spins out with no problem. I also hear a rather load screeching noise on each rotation during the speed building part of the spin cycle but the noise goes away once the washer reaches it’s desired spin speed. That’s about as much info as I can give without some more guidance. I hope someone can help me determine what the part or parts are that are causing me problems.
