just got this ge refrig used and the water dispenser works fine but no water to the ice maker. found out that the motor for the tray to crush or dispense ice is bad. when you press on door switch you hear it try to turn but its locked up tight. would this stop water from coming into the ice tray? when i turn on the ice maker it has power but never fills with water.
Does the ice maker have a green LED light? If it does, then does it stay on or it’s blinking?
Remove the ice bucket and check if the auger motor will work without it.
If it would not, remove the motor and try to defrost it. Sometime it can be just frozen.

yes the light is green solid no blinking the motor is toasted took it out and its rusted stuck so ordered new one. would that stop the water from going to the ice disp or could it be the valve? i do have water coming to the door disp with no problem and put new filter in.
If the water feeding tube into the ice maker is not obstructed, then the problem most likely is a bad water inlet valve on the back of the refrigerator.

The tubing came loose on the water side and caused a short (i assume…the water and ice were coming on all by themselves) That craziness stopped. The ice maker is functioning, but when I depress the ice paddle water comes out (on the water side). Any suggestions?
