GE error code flashes 4 times means the mode shifter (clutch) needs repair.
Testing with an ohm meter gives a reading of 66, which means it is closed and good.
Is this a discrepancy? What part needs repair?

Need model number of washer, not the mode shifter. If it’s less than a year old, it should be under warranty? Can you rotate the basket by hand?
Eric
Model GE WHRE5550k1WW–the washer is about 4 years old.
Basket spins freely by hand.
I assume it is agitating ok? The mode shifter is only energized during agitation so if it won’t spin and is giving a mode shifter error, it sounds like the motor/inverter is bad. Try clearing the error code by unplugging the washer for 1 minute, then plug back in and open/close the lid 6 times within 12 seconds.

OK, after the reset procedure the code changed. Now its 9. It looks like the best next step is to replace the motor.
