Dryer was working fine earlier in the day. We had a transformer blow in the area and lost power for a couple hours. NOw the power is back on, the breakers are fine, the drum light works, the dial lights work, but the dryer will not run. NO humming, nothing. Drum spins by hand with resistance so belts seems to be OK. Any ideas would be helpful. 5 kids lots of laundry!!
This is the thermal fuse it is mounted on the heater housing. This could shut the whole unit down. It could be the door switch too, but, with a surege, it is most likely, the thermal fuse. Be sure the unit has power. Tom http://www.applianceeducator.com

Hopefully it is the switch or fuse.
The unit has a circuit board and the fastest fuse in the world is an electronic component. They will blow long before a fuse starts to melt. If it is the main board you may want to inquire at your hydro company. I know our company will compensate if they cause the problem re: brown outs etc.
Turn your breaker off/on slowly or better yet check it with a meter for 240 volts. Could be you have lost half your line.
On most units the lights and the motor use the same side of the line. Yours looks like it uses L1 for the lights but L2 for the motor.
Often half the line can drop out and not blow the breaker.
