top element not heating

top element not heating on bake or broil…Have replaced top element and top probe/sensor…oven does get slightly warm due to bottom element working…Any ideas???

Hello.

Are the surface elements work OK?

When you say" top element" are you talking about broil element in the big oven?

If you are , then you need to do the "live" test at control board.

Remember-it’s 240v in there. If you feel comfortable doing that and you have a multimeter proceed to instructions:

Get access to the control board from the back.

Locate contacts BRL, , L2 out.

With meter set to AC Volt and oven set to Broil check for 240v between BRL and L2 out. If there is no 240v - replace the control board.

If you have voltage - trace the wires to the broil element.

Thanks… You were right…the board is burnt at the two wire plug…one side marked L2 out…the other side I cant read because that is the side that burnt out…I will get a new board…Problem now is the plug is melted. Can I just use a standard single connector on both wires?.And I assume that the other prong on the board between the burnt one and the L2 out is not used ? Thank you very much…

Hi.

You can use any UL approved connectors as long as they service the purpose. Make sure there is no risk of grounding the connections.
