My washer leaks from the cover of the tub, there is a gasket that is rotted. You have to replace the entire lid part to get the gasket. Would I be able to seal the lid to the tub with a water proof silicone sealant and get the same result for a less costly repair?
When you are talking about sealing the "lid to the tub" I assume you mean the top part of the cabinet and not the actual lid, which of course would make it impossible to use the machine.
To answer your question, I don’t know and I doubt if anyone else does either, but I say go for it.
