Tub Seal Replacement

I have a Frigidaire washer that I believe is made by Electrolux. It is leaking water above the transmission from where the shaft enters the tub. I am assuming the seal is bad.

Is there more than one shaft seal and how do you replace it/them?

Thanks.

Thank you very much Gene. That information seems straightforward.

I have almost no experience working on washers. Would you recommend a beginner try this repair?

Thanks again.

Thanks again Gene. You have been a big help.

This is my first time on this site and I am impressed.

Hello again,

Gene, if by chance refrigerators are also your forte, could you please take a look at my new post on a problem there,

I’m glad you were able to fix it.

Hello, I have a GE Profile PSW23PSTASS side by side refrigerator (2.5 years old). In November 2008, I had the same problem that most people here have described (freezer is working but refrigerator side is not cooling). GE came out to the house and replaced the freezer evaporator fan. That seemed to solve the problem until a few weeks ago at which time I experienced the same problem and scheduled another service appointment. After reading some other posts I unplugged the refrigerator which apparently resets the motherboard. I cancelled the service call since the refrigerator was working fine.

Tonight I had the same problem with the refrigerator not cooling. It got up to 73 degrees. Again I unplugged it and was able to reset it. It is now cooling down.

There is no ice on the wall in the freezer. I’m thinking my motherboard is bad.

Any help would be appreciated since this problem will most likely keep happening.

Thanks, Rich
