washer banging sound while in spin cycle

Hello,

I have a Kenmore model 11026752500. It’s about 10 or so years old. Been running ok lately without problems but last night it just developed (instantly like something broke) a sound like something hitting the inside of the washer during spin cycle only. Almost like a hammer tapping it… it was spinning still ok last night but now it’s going forward, stopping, and repeat… with each time the sound happens… this occurs from the moment the power is turned on for the spin cycle… I’ve done repairs myself in the past by using your videos so i’m familiar with the sound of a failed coupler or a slipping clutch… both of these I replaced last year without trouble… I thought this might be the drive block so I took the top off and looked at it but it appears to still be in tact… though there is corrosion… but if it’s corroded in place I doubt it is what is making this repetitive banging sound… I took a short video that shows both the sound and the current jerking motion the tub is making… I think if i run it anymore the tub will just no longer move at all… off the top of your head can you direct me to a first suggested area to look that would make this sound? I looked beneath the washer last night and the sound isn’t coming from the gear box… it’s above that… so i’m stumped so far… all I can think of is to take the bottom off and look at the clutch again… but i can’t see how the clutch would be making this loud banging sound… I really appreciate your website as I’ve used it a few times now to buy products for install myself… The bad thing here is I was planning on buying a new machine in November once it went on sale. But anyhow… if anyone could watch this short video and recognize this sound I would appreciate it…

given the jerking motion i’m fearing it’s the transmission… i can’t think of what else it would be…

Need to remove the cabinet and bypass the lid switch so you can run it and see whats going on. Show video of clutch hub spinning while in spin mode. If clutch hub is just starting to spin and stopping over and over, then sounds like the spin gear in the transmission is stripped out.
