My whirlpool duet spinner runs fine but at the end of the cycle when it spins to dry the clothes it will say 1 minute remaining but continue spinning for 40 minutes, or until I shut it off. Is it possible there is still water it is trying to drain? Also, it smells mildewish when the cycle is done. What is needed to fix this?
Sounds like it may not be draining properly, and the mildew smell is water staying in the rubber gasket (boot) on the door.
Take off the bottom panel and open up the drain plug and clean everything out. You should also find a tech sheet that will give you troubleshooting and testing instructions if that fails to fix things.
