My Maytag washer gets as far as the drain/spin cycle after rinsing and stops with the tub full of water. When I manually move the control dial near the rinse indicator (regular wash) and pull it out, the pump drains and the spin cycle activates normally. If I don’t reset it, the washer will stall with a full tub indefinitely. What do you think is broken? Thanks for your help.
Sounds like the problem is a bad timer.

Thanks alot Gene. You are smarter than a Maytag repairman.
You are welcome. Keep us posted.

Can I get some follow-up? Did this solve your problem?
Thanks
I ordered the timer, put it in, but same problem. However, the old timer does not turn easily now, so maybe I need a new timer AND a pump switch?

Which part did you call "pump switch"?
Gene.
I guess I meant the actual pump…BUT, now the old timer works through all cycles including the drain pump from start to finish, but is very hard to turn. (I have to use use both hands). I returned the new timer, but maybe that was a hasty decision. Crap.
It sounds very strange. One of possibilities is a loose connection somewhere.
Yes, you could do it later. APP will except any returns within 365 days.
