Washer stops before the rinse

I have a Maytag Washer, Model LAT9604AAE, the machine cuts out before the rinse cycle, it will fill and agitate, but will not drain and rinse, most of the time, the timer will continue to rotate around to the end of the cycle, the timer has to be repeatedly turned off and on, and in various other cycles to get the washer to work.

I have used an ohm meter to check the fuse, lid switch and check switch, all were okay. I have also changed the belts.

If by work you mean to get it to drain and spin I would say it sounds as if the timer is faulty.
