Washer will not agitate, spin, or drain

I have a Whirlpool Ultimate II top load, direct drive washer. The problem began when the washer just stopped with a basket full of clothes and water. It was making a humming sound and smelled burnt. I got the water out, replaced the lid switch and the motor coupling. That didn’t do anything. It will fill then nothing. It doesn’t humm anymore or smell burnt, just nothing. I have been looking up things to figure out what I should do. A couple ideas as to what I thought are the water pump, the gearcase, the capaciter. Also, when I replaced the motor coupling, I noticed that there is a ton of oil on the gearcase. It doesn’t leak on the floor and I’m not sure it has anything to do with it or not. I would love for someone to give me some advice as to what I should look at next. I don’t want to keep replacing parts that arent necessary. Thanks in advance.

Check the lid hinge screws on the left side. They can come loose and prevent the hinge from activating the lid switch. If there is now no noise at all from the motor, the problem is not the capacitor. Remove the cabinet and bypass the lid switch so you can operate it with cabinet removed. Unplug the motor connector and check for burned/corroded contacts on the harness plug and the motor receptacle. Also check the motor thermal overload connections. The white wire from motor connector goes to this device. If all looks good but no noise from motor, do you have a multimeter to do some testing? When you place timer to spin, does timer advance (even if no spin)?
