Have a Frigidaire Affinity washer about 1 1/2 yrs old. It will wash but not advance to the other cycles. Just replaced main control board as that is what we were told was wrong and it will only let us advance manually.

These front load Frigidaire’s are just very difficult to diagnose. There are tech notes inside the lower service panel that will talk you through some testing and diagnoses methods, but in the end a lot of times you just end up replacing parts until you fix the problem.
If you bought the control unit from this site, you can return it. Going forward I would focus on the door lock assembly and the speed/motor control unit. Again, if you want to try replacing them on spec and you purchase here you can return the parts. (No, those of us who reply do not work for APP and are not part of their parts operations, we are volunteers)
