Washer stopped agitating and spinning however will pump water out. It appears that the pully turns in the same direction when on spin or agitate.
Operate it with the front panel off and see what is happening with the motor and pulley. If the motor is turning and the pulley is turning but nothing is happening then the transmission is suspect.
Actually when I put the washer in spin mode the pump works but drum does not spin. When in washing mode the agitator turns. I tipped the machine over, removed the belt, turned the puuly counter clockwise and the agitator moved. Turned the pully clockwise, pully turns but drum does not.
I am suspecting it the brake rotor.
You are probably right, but the part that likely needs to be replaced is the thrust bearing,
which causes the brake to be release. It is not a difficult repair but it will be very helpful to have someone help you. Instructions are included with the part package.
Thank you for your response. I happened to have ordered the brake rotor, spring and a thin part along with a thrust bearing kit and a new belt…just in case. I am hoping that it’s not the tranny as it’s the most expensive piece.
Ok good, but install the thrust bearing kit first before doing anything else and see if that fixes things. In 90% of the times it will and you can return the other parts if you bought from this site.
