Washer won't move past initial agitation

[FONT="Comic Sans MS"][SIZE="3"][COLOR="Navy"]Washer starts fine but stops after initial agitation cycle. Just where it turns to a slower agitation it stops completely. I’ve tried manually moving the dial to rinse, drain, spin. I’ve tried it on other types of cycles. Nothing. When I try it on the spin I hear a slight hum behind the dial and then it stops.
I forgot to mention that it won’t drain either… but that could be simply because it won’t move past the initial agitation.

Please help!!

Your two likely candidates are the motor, which is 2 speed and one of the speeds may not work, or the timer. These motors are pretty hardy so I would start with the timer, besides it is a less expensive part.
