The washer will be 5 yrs. old next month. On any cycle, it won’t spin to extract water after washing or rinsing. The drum does all its turns for the wash and rinse, but won’t move to spin. Any idea on what I need to purchase to make it work, or other things I can do to trouble shoot and determine specifically what’s wrong? I am not receiving ANY error codes when it’s in operation. The fact that the clothes are sopping wet confirms my observations that it doesn’t spin. If it’s the control panel, is this something I can replace myself, or do I need to have the repair guy come back? He told me the control panel is under the machine and attached to the motor and would be cost prohibitive ($400-450). He also said I could replace it and then find that the control panel behind the display panel could short circuit given the age of the machine .
Any and all responses are appreciated. Thank you, in advance. EALuna
The washer will not spin until it’s full of water. If you have the tub full of water remove the toe panel and check if the drain pump works (washer calls for drain).
If the pump works and no drain - check all the drain hoses, specially one between the tub and the pump for clogs.
Thanks Simon. Did you mean the washer won’t spin if it IS full of water? It appears to be draining fine. It fills to wash, agitates the laundry in its reverse motion; drains, and then sits still while it should be spinning to extract. It sounds like it wants to spin, but it doesn’t. Then it fills to rinse, moves the laundry around, drains, and sits still.
I’ll check out the drain as you suggested, in case it is not fully draining, but all seems to be fine. The repairman was here for an hour watching it go through the cycle, and he didn’t say it DIDN’T drain. (But then he also told me it was dead and not worth repairing, as a new washer wouldn’t be much more than the $400 dollar part and second service call to install it. H-m-m.)
Received the motor control part the day after I ordered it. Installed it. Problem remains. Washer will not spin out on final spin. Sure sounds like it wants to, but nothing happens. Clothes are still sopping wet. Tried more than one cycle (delicate; perm.press; drain/spin); still nothing. Any more suggestions before I comb through the yellow pages for someone to service it?
Thank you, again, Simon. This is a front loader, and I’m not able to "set the machine to spin". It’s the drawback of a front loader - you can only begin cycles at the beginning of whatever cycle mode you select. I’ll show my husband the file you attached to see if he can figure something out, though. I also got a reply from another Senior Member in a thread to someone else with the same machine as me, and the same problem. He mentioned running a diagnostic. I’ve replied to him for more info on this. I will keep you posted.
