washer wont spin

I have done a ton of research and my washer is completely apart but I still dont know what is wrong with it. The problem is it will function through all modes but wont do anything for the spin cycle. It pumps all the water out fine. The coupler is good. How do I know if the clutch is bad or if the transmition is bad. Please help!!

Pull the pump and motor and turn the tranny coupler clockwise till the tranny engages spin. If the clutch housing fails to spin, you have a bad gear in the tranny. If hard to turn, you have bad brake shoes and a worn clutch.
You can go to my sticky above, "replacing direct drive washer brake shoes" for info.

I dont know how to find your reference to more info. What is "my sticky"?
I turned the tranny coupler but it was difficult. When I look at the brake shoes and the clutch pads they seem ok, like when you look at car brake pads. They are bad even when there is pad left on them?
Are these the parts that I should get item # [Basket Drive and Brake Assembly](http://www.appliancepartspros.com/Appliance-Parts/whirlpool-clutch-item-number-ap3120590.aspx"AP309443]AP3120590 [/URL]and item # . Should I get the whole [URL="http://www.appliancepartspros.com/Appliance-Parts/whirlpool-basket-drive-and-brake-assembly-item-number-ap3094539.aspx) (bit more $).
Thanks for the reply.
