washing machine cabinet panel

The load size knob broke from the washing machine. (First it became stuck, I removed the knob, and tried to adjust the load size with pliers, hence broke the part that attaches to the knob.) I would like to replace this, but I can’t figure our how to remove cabinet panel from the washing machine. I will appreciate any responses. Thank you

It is not obvious, but if you will slip a thin blade under the end caps from the front you will release the clips that hold the console to the cabinet. This will get you to the switch.

What type of blade do I use? Also, do I start from the outer white endcap and move in towards the center I of the machine? Or, do I start from the silver part of the cabinet and move toward the outside edges of the machine? Thank your assistance. (I tried using a long, flat screwdriver…but, no luck. Also, I was under the silver part of the cabinet.)

A thin scraper will do. Just slide it under the end cap from the front. You can see an exploded view of the console if you click on the model number.

Great! But, before I removed the cabinet I tried to do my usual "medium" load of laundry. The washer only filled with water. I’m wondering if I knocked something loose by trying to pry open cabinet with screwdriver. Also, after removing cabinet I noticed 2 plastic white clips laying on washer, a green wire seems to be disconnected , and my son "accidentally" dropped clips inside of holes in th holes where the endcaps were. Is this beyond my repair???

I also removed the tube from the switch. The water didn’t stop filling until I unplugged the washer. I blew into the tube…it seems to be fine…bubbles came out into the water. It looks like the switch is easy to replace , but now I am concerned my washer won’t agitate now??? Also, how do I get water out of washer. (At least I have extra large capacity now…ha, ha, ha.)

Glad you got it open. See if you disconnected the lid switch and did not get it back connected.

Hurray!!! It’s fixed…you guys are awesome. I had to replace the lid switch also(cracked it while prying open cabinet.) Thank you, Teresa
