My dryer was making horrific squeaking noises. When I pulled it apart I discovered that the plastic front bearing/drum support (AP3790641) has worn through and needs to be replaced. I see that the replacement drum support does not include the drum slides. However, I can’t tell from the part diagrams whether I need the white drum slides or the green drum slides or both, and how many do I need? From what is remaining of my drum support and the slides, it looks like I need two green slides and two white slides–does that sound right?
Also, should I go ahead and replace the drum bearing–I assumed the drum bearing was the problem, but now that I see the condition of the front drum support and the slides, I’m pretty confident that’s what was causing the noise. I just don’t know if the wear from the lack of slides will tend to kill the drum bearing as well.
