Hey everybody, I had a question about the tools needed to complete a job. I recently noticed a leak at the bottom of the outer tub of my washer near the shaft. I have an Amana ALW880QAW, so I was thinking of installing this kit: [AP3854725 ](http://www.appliancepartspros.com/Appliance-Parts/WHIRLPOOL-Assy--hub---seal-item-number-AP4253876.aspx"]AP4253876 . The question I have is what tools will I need for all the parts in this kit, below is a list of what I think I need:
*AP3873487 AP3854730]Seal Nut & Spanner wrench: &
*AP3856712 ]Spanner Wrench:
*]Break & Bearing removal tool: If this list is correct I’m up to about $300 in parts & tools, so I’d probably start looking at a new washer. Please let me know if there’s any tools I don’t really need or if there’s any way to get this job done cheaper. Thanks!!
This is a major problem with these Maytag built machines.
I would go for a new basic top loader. In our area they are aggressively priced, and good 3.2 cu ft model can be had for less than $300.00
I was actually just looking online and I found this one: http://www.homedepot.com/Appliances-Laundry-Clothing-Care-Washers-Top-Load-Washers/h_d1/N-5yc1vZbv5iZ5z2alZ1z12ykp/R-100662039/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053
Any thoughts?
I would prefer the Whirlpool direct drive washer, about the same price, but easier to fix and repair parts cheaper.
Richappy knows of what he speaks!
