My Whirlpool Cabro started making a weird rattling sound and leaking water all over the floor during the spin cycle. It still works fine though. I looked on the bottom and and I see water "on" the "Pump-Water Circulation" part but can’t tell where it’s coming from (I looked up my parts list on this site). There are no split hoses, etc. I did undo one of the rubber hoses going to that part and there was an elastic band from one of the kids clothes stuck in there. I removed it but no luck. I did see a wire farther up the hose but it seemed solid so didn’t yank too much but then later I was thinking that maybe it was a wire from a bra or something. Is there actually a wire in that part?
I was going to put the washer on something so I could see under it when it starts to leak but posted here first. Anybody have any idea:
OK…here’s an update…so for a month now my redneck fix ended up putting a tray under the washer which caught the water and would overflow into the drain and I ignored the rattling sound (I know…it was always on my "to-do" list). I ran some clothes through last night and when I went to check this morning I had a "LD" error code and it was full of water. I unplugged/reset and pushed every button but had no luck.
I pulled the back off the washer and unplugged a hose off the pump on the left to drain the tub. (After the water had flowed everywhere uncontrollably and soaked me)…I pulled that wire out and yes it was an underwire from a bra. Also, I pulled 4 quarters and a penny out of the pump!
I am running a load through now but see that there is a little tab where it is still leaking water. I tried to pause and push it but it didn’t stop leaking…I’m hoping once the water pressure is gone I can get that tab to close and stop the leak too.
WOW! I am going through the same thing right now! It started making a rattling sound and draining out the bottom back by pump. Took apart took out two pennies. Removed the plastic thing that had slid under the washer (also making noise) But it is still leaking? We just propped it up so he could get a better look when I started to look on internet…
Ya, mine kept leaking and what I found is that "tab" was a crack/hole in the plastic pump assembly on the bottom. It was an expensive part so I just bought "Water Weld" that was made by JB Weld and it worked like a charm. It was a putty that I pushed through the hole and spread thin inside and out. No more leaks! I didn’t realize I hadn’t posted my status to close the issue. Hope it helps!
