Whirlpool Dishwasher Won't Turn On

This past weekend our Whirlpool GU3600XTSB2 stopped working. It left water in the bottom of the machine and the control panel will not respond to anything. We still haven’t been able to drain the unit.

I found the service manual for a similar model and started troubleshooting. It appeared it was the control board so I ordered one off of Amazon (with Prime) and it can be returned. Got the new board, installed it and it appeared to work better but a few minutes later it stopped working again.

After being unplugged for a while, when plugging it in the display lights up with "–" and then the number 2 as if it is going to drain. I can hear the control board click and then a couple seconds later it blinks and clicks again. After doing this 3-5 times the whole unit becomes unresponsive. Unplugging for a while seems to reset it so I can do the test again.

One time I was able to run the basic reset diagnostic of Normal-HeatedDry-Normal-HeatedDry-Normal-HeatedDry. All of the lights light up, the display flashes "d3" and then 07. Shortly after it does that the unit stops responding until the next time I unplug it and let it sit for a while.

Based on research it seems like the issue could be the Control Panel. I just want to confirm that the problem is actually with the control panel and not something else. The part W10021160 is a special order and can take 2-4 weeks to get. Before I order that and have to wait, I want to make sure it will fix the problem and there’s not something else.

In the past we’ve already had to put a new motor in the dishwasher and I’m also trying to determine if this unit is worth fixing or just replace with a cheaper end model.

Any suggestions or info?

Thanks,

Josh
