i have a whirlpool washer that i picked up used. Upon testing, it wouldn’t spin/agetate/ anything involving the motor. Got an error F06. Tach sensor or something similar. After doing some internet research, i was led to believe it was the MCU. MCU is now replaced. Now, i can hear when the motor tries to kick on, but it never kicks over. (you know that high pitched noise you hear from a TV or monitor when its on, but their is no noise in the room?? thats the noise).
I can turn the motor/hub pulley fine in both directions. When I hear the noise of the motor trying to start, if i reach back and give that "hub pulley" () a little jump start by hand, then it will work. however, it will only finish the high speed spin cycle. any lower speed spins or agitation cycles, and it will work for only a few seconds, and shut back off. at which point it needs my assistance again to get started.
I can see that it visably "grabs" (drum jerks) when I manually turn it to allow it to start. would this indicate a bad clutch or something? or is it the motor? or maybe something more technical?
any help is appreciated, as I stumped, and most definately not an appliance mechanic.
tested the motor on the three prongs specified on the tech sheet. the sheet says ~6 ohms for all of them. all three tested at 6.4-6.5 ohms.
still the same story. motor sits there making that high pitched noise, and slightly twitching, until i give it even the slightest amount of help, then it comes up to speed.
any other thoughts or things i can check??
Edit: still getting F06. although now the selection LED is blinking. (the one the main cycle selction dial points at). I seem to remember it was solid before. still allows me to start a cycle, however; just strange.
