whirlpool duet

My duet was vibrating violently and making noise. i took off the back cover and front cover found out the drain pump is one of the problems. (it works but is noisy. aslo found a lot of spattered dirt and grease coming from the bearing in the middle of the tub. do i have to replace the tub? is there a seal bad or can i just replace the bearing. also i had to reconnect two of the shock absorbers on the left side.
any suggestions would be appriciated
Thanks

Hi Moodster

It sounds like someone put some pretty heavy material in your washer to cause damage like that or the failure of your shocks caused the machine to partially destroy itself. Either way it is a major problem.

Here is the service manual.

Unless someone has a better suggestion from what you describe I think you are looking at replacing the back half of the tub, unless replacing the pulley and screws will do the job, which it does not sound like from your description. If that is the case I think you are looking at a new machine.

Good luck, these are great machines when they work, but when they do not, well, you get (got) the picture

I would check those concrete counterweights to see if one or more may have moved or shifted and is causing your problem, but if not I think either you or someone in your household had a very heavy load which caused the damage you reported earlier, or you have a "lemon" of a machine.

In either case I think replacement is the better course.

Good luck, wish I could have had an easy fix.
