Whirlpool Electric Dryer, replaced timer, will not advance

our timer wasn’t advancing on our dryer (timed dry only, our dryer has no sensor), so i replaced it… it still wont advance, it just stays in the same place… any idea what’s wrong? thanks for your help…

I could not find one for an EQ3 so it is for an EQ2 but is probably the same as yours.

Although your unit does not have a sensor it has auto modes which do sort of the same thing.
In a timed dry mode, the timer motor gets power directly through Timer Switch 0 contacts TM/WB.
In auto modes it gets power through the heating coil when the coil is shut off through Timer Switch contacts TM/OR. The 5000 ohm resistor is there to drop the 240 volts down to 120 volts so it does not blow the timer motor. There are a number of things that can cause it to not advance in auto re: a blown resistor, a grounded element etc.

So does it also not advance on a timed dry cycle?
